Written for a clinical reader.
A diagnostic report records what was examined, the measurements taken and the doctor's observations. It is written in clinical terminology, for your treating doctor as much as for you.
That is why a term that sounds alarming out of context is often routine, and why a single measurement rarely means anything on its own.
Reading It Sensibly
Read it as a whole
Findings are interpreted together, not line by line.
Do not self-diagnose from a phrase
Searching an isolated term online usually produces the least likely explanation rather than the most likely one.
Compare with previous reports
Change over time is often more meaningful than a single value.
Write down what is unclear
Bring the list to your doctor and ask them to go through it.
